GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
QUALIFICATIONS
New Jersey Certificate with appropriate endorsement
AUTHORITY AND RELATIONSHIP
Responsible to the building principal and/or other appropriately certified supervisory personnel as designated by the Superintendent of Schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the approved limits of authority and in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and policies of the Elizabeth Board of Education and the New Jersey Administrative Code, the Guidance Counselor is responsible for the effective performance of the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assists students in the selection of courses of
- Monitors student progress on a regular
- Maintains complete and accurate student
- Participates in faculty and committee meetings as
- Provides equal educational opportunities for all students in accordance with state and local thorough and efficient goals and objectives.
- Remains abreast of current educational developments and
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and the policies of the Elizabeth Board of
- Insures proper maintenance and inventory of guidance materials and
- Develops and maintains a guidance office environment that is conducive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity interest and ability of
I0. Serves as the school Drop-Out Prevention Officer and works in cooperation with the Health and Special Services Coordinators.
- Performs all duties deemed necessary and essential by the Superintendent of Schools.
