JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Teacher/Instructional Coach
Qualifications:
- Valid Standard New Jersey Teaching Certification.
- English, Math, and/or Reading Specialist Endorsement(s) preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in the area of public school education, with related in-classroom teaching experiences.
- Effective communication skills.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Reports to: Building Principal
Performance Responsibilities:
- Mentors and coaches teachers in instructional strategies
- Assists teachers in screening and diagnostic activities, monitoring intervention strategies and student progress.
- Models effective, research-based, instructional techniques in the classroom to train teachers with the goal of providing opportunities for all students to participate and succeed
- Coordinates training for professional staff to address identified areas of need
- Tutors students as needed.
- Teaches classes as assigned.
- Assists teachers in the administration, collection, analysis, and dissemination of formative and summative assessment results.
- Plans and conducts grade level and/or content area meetings regarding instructional matters at the building administrator’s request.
- Assists in building peer relationships in order to effectively implement all aspects of the E.B.O.E. approved curricula.
- Works with school administrator to monitor and plan a high quality instructional program for the entire school population.
- Monitors program implementation by maintaining accurate records of support through classroom visits, team meetings, mentoring, coaching, modeling lessons, etc.
- Attends professional development seminars as requested by the district and/or principal.
- Collaborates with and becomes an integral part of instructional leadership teams and work closely with building administrators to plan professional development.
- Maintains regular communication with general education, special education, bilingual education building professional staff regarding instructional progress and needs of students.
- Assists students in developing desirable work habits and study skills.
- Accepts and carries out assigned responsibilities for co-curricular activities with building professional staff.
- Develops, maintains, and supports a classroom and school environment that is conducive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and ability of all students.
- Participates in faculty and committee meetings as required by the building administrator.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and the policies of the Elizabeth Board of Education relative to the student.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the building administrator.
Terms of Employment:
Ten (10) months or Eleven (11) months; tenurable
Evaluated by the building principal, consistent with statute, code and collective negotiations agreement.
Compensation and benefits as established by the Administrator’s collective negotiations agreement.
